Cricket: Five reasons why India will beat England in the Test series

India’s batting has continued to look good, and with the return of the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh, there cannot be too much doubt that the side will be bolstered. Yes, the Indians have issues with the first Test match if series, but the good thing is that half the side has already had an extended net session in the form of the Test series in West Indies, which should play its part in matters easier.

Cricket: Strange that India did not go after win against West Indies

So India have won the series against West Indies. With slightly better luck they would have even won all three Test matches but rains refused to relent, robbing the second and the third Test match of many overs and in the end, the Indians would need to be content with only a draw apiece.

Cricket: VVS Laxman's strange dismissal takes sheen away from four half-centuries

Laxman did exactly that, left it for the wicket-keeper to gather it, but at the same time, in a moment of indiscretion, he, for reasons beyond fathomable lifted his foot up and kept it down – all in a fraction of a second. It was almost as if Laxman wante

The Sri Lankan Premier League has bitten the dust. The first edition has, in any case. The Sri Lankan board officials, consisting of the newly formed committee have decided, in conjunction with their marketing/administrative arm, the Somerset Entertainment Ventures, have announced that the SLPL will now be held in August 2012. Earlier, the plan was to have the tournament in July 2011.

Cricket: Sangakkara's admirable guts makes for exciting few days ahead in Sri Lankan cricket

First of all, Kumar Sangakkara must be lauded for the kind of guts that he showed in the MCC’s Spirit of Lecture by taking on the Sri Lankan board and the overall administration for the sport in the country. There was no doubt that things weren’t going right in cricket in Sri Lanka and while it wasn’t as bad as the Pakistan Cricket Board, one could be certain that they weren’t far too behind.

Cricket: Gayle-WICB spat refuses to resolve, Gayle wants to move on

It is no surprise that the Chris Gayle issue refuses to blow over. The reason is simple, a huge, bloated ego at both ends of the debate that keeps coming in the way of those concerned. And so it has turned out with both parties refusing to back down a millimetre or budge even an inch.

Cricket: Dhoni's dismissal by broadcaster raises many questions

It is a surprise that in this day and age, the cricket broadcaster has made a basic error like doling out a wrong action replay to the third umpire. On the first day of the second Test match, MS Dhoni was out, caught by the mid-on fielder, but the on-field umpire stopped Dhoni from returning back.

Cricket: India's batting in West Indies will be source for worry

It is difficult to look away and talk down the manner in which the Indian batsmen have gone about their business in West Indies so far. Neither in the ODIs and nor in the three Test innings that have been played out so far, has there been any conviction shown by the top-order inexperience and that has meant that the fans would be a tad worried about the future.

Cricket: BCCI accepts DRS in modified form

In what will be a major relief to all those supporters of the DRS, the ICC's chief executives' committee has decided in the ICC annual meeting that the DRS will be used mandatorily for all the games in a tweaked format. The tweak will be around the making of using Hot-Spot mandatory but there will be no usage of ball-tracking technology if the boards do not agree to it.

Cricket: Dhoni has no right to question umpiring decisions

That is the one reason why Dhoni should shut his trap while talking about umpiring decisions. A simple no-comments would be a fairer answer.

Cricket: Rahul Dravid needs to be worshipped as much as others

It isn’t the first time that Rahul Dravid scored a century in Test cricket. In fact, it was the 32nd occasion that he did so. And yet, the joy that the century would have got to him would have been unparalleled. He was dropped by Darren Sammy early alright but beyond that there was no looking back.
