Just one phrase would be an apt answer "For the sake of publicity." The thing is that we Indians are in complete awe of cricketers and look up to them as divine angels. This is exactly what the media tries to cash in on.
Guest columns are still understandable but its really ridiculous when media people pounce on visiting cricketers forcing them to comment on Indian cricket. Poor Shaun Pollock was on a one day visit to India and a couple of media people caught hold of him at the airport. Thereafter he was made to answer questions related to Ishant Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar and the Ind-Aus series. No one asked him as to why he was here in India or for that matter anything regarding South African cricket. Poor guy clearly seemed irritated with the baggage in his hand and answering stuff that's noway related to him or his country.

ha ha ha that was really funny anand, a guest column by Laden himself....
but the point u have raised is very correct....
i think sometimes its fine to have an opinion of any player who is genuinely neutral and shares both the sides of the story....
but otherwise all these cricketers who just want to make a loud noise by portraying themselves as victims need not be entertained by the Indian media.....
