जुन्या काळी बरेचसे पालक आपल्या शाळेत जाणा-या मुलांना रोजनिशी लिहिण्याचा सल्ला द्यायचे. याचे दोन फायदे होते. एकतर, मुलांचे भाषाकौशल्य आणि हस्ताक्षर सुधारण्यास मदत होत असे. फायदयाच्या चौकटितुन जर याचा विचार केला तर त्याचा असा परिणाम साधायचा की ते त्यांच्या मुलांनी दररोज करीत असलेल्या शालेय वा इतर activities तसेच शाळेत केलेल्या गंमती जमती चे रेकॉर्ड तयार व्हायचे.
